Best of both
Electric excavator setups
Seven ways to power your excavator with electricity
From a simple power supply pole to an excavator cable reel, a slip ring system, a fixed high neck platform excavator and the hybrid excavator. Pick the setup that matches your site, then open it for full details.
Industries
Electric excavators for mining, ports, railways and more
Wherever excavators run long hours on fixed or repetitive work, electrification pays back fastest. Here is where IEPL setups are used.
Mining & quarry
Run electric excavators for mining, overburden handling, coal and sand mining and blue metal quarries. The mobile cable reel is engineered for blasting zones.
Recommended setups
Ports & bulk terminals
Harbour handling, bulk terminals and storage yards benefit from the fixed high neck platform excavator and cable reel setups with grab attachments.
Recommended setups
Railways & tunnels
Railway construction, cargo handling and tunnel works where noise, heat and exhaust emissions are a concern.
Recommended setups
Scrap, steel & waste
Scrap metal yards, steel plants and waste management facilities need continuous-duty, low-emission material handling.
Recommended setups
Bio mining & earthwork
Bio mining, soil and sand dump yards, earthwork and excavation projects with repetitive digging in fixed working zones.
Recommended setups
Timber & industrial yards
Wood and timber industries, bulk material yards and industrial or manufacturing sites with long working hours.

Operating cost savings
Electric excavator vs diesel: what you spend per hour
Fuel is the biggest running cost of a diesel excavator. This comparison shows EV or hybrid cost per hour against diesel at about ₹10 per electricity unit and ₹100 per litre, with monthly and yearly savings at 240 hours a month for 10 months.

It is an upgrade that lets your existing diesel excavator run on plug-in electric power. IEPL fits an electrification system and a cable supply setup (power pole, cable reel or slip ring) so the machine can work from site electricity instead of burning diesel.
IEPL's dual plug-in electric and diesel hybrid excavator is one of the first of its kind in the construction equipment industry. It runs as a conventional diesel excavator or as a plug-in electric excavator, so you choose electric where power is available and diesel at remote or off-grid sites.
IEPL's figures show about 75% lower annual operating cost. For a 20–24 ton machine at 240 hours a month, the saving is roughly ₹2,16,000 a month, based on about ₹10 per electricity unit and ₹100 per litre of diesel. Actual savings depend on your machine, conditions and energy prices.
No. The converted excavator delivers the same power output as the diesel machine, with no loss of productivity.
The tower cable reel, mobile cable reel on a truck or tractor, excavator mounted cable reel, centre joint slip ring and fixed high neck platform all rotate a full 360°. The power supply pole is designed for controlled 280° rotation.
The tower cable reel gives up to a 65 m working radius. The mobile reel reaches 65 m from truck to excavator and up to 200 m from the power source truck. The excavator mounted reel carries 100 m of cable, and the slip ring setup has no fixed cable length limit.
The mobile cable reel on a truck or tractor is specially engineered for quarry and blue metal mining, including blasting operations, and gives enhanced cable protection during blasting.
Maintenance costs are lower than for diesel machines. In electric mode there are no engine overheating issues, and the automatic reels and slip rings reduce cable wear and damage.
Examples shown in IEPL's brochure include Hitachi ZAXIS, Komatsu PC series and an SK 140 E. Send us your make and model and our engineers will advise on the right electrification setup.
